What People are saying about this program
" This is the only program that has worked or been helpful for our family. We have been through nearly every resource available to us, all of which we did not find helpful. It is a proactive mental health system rather than a reactive one."
Mental Health First Aid
January 30 & 31, 2018 8:30am to 4:00pm
Mental Health First Aid Basic is a program of the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). MHCC acts as a catalyst for improving the mental health system and changing the attitudes and behaviors of Canadians around mental health issues.
About one in five Canadians is living with a mental health problem in any given year. While people often know a lot about physical illness, most people have little knowledge about mental illness. The first aid actions in the guidelines have been rated as important or essential by expert panels of professionals, consumers and care providers. To date, guidelines have been produced for depression, psychosis, deliberate self-injury, and suicidal thoughts and behaviors. ( Info from Mental Health First Aid Manuals)
